Ultimate Member Subscriptions by Woocommerce?

  • Ultimate Member + Subscriptions by Woocommerce?

    Ok so, just wondering if anyone has used Subscriptions by WooCommerce and can advise on how it integrates with WC itself.

    It’s an expensive add on and I don’t want to purchase unless I know it will work for my situation.

    I’ve had a look through the documentation and it appears that a subscription would be an option within the WC product data section, however it’s impossible to tell without actually buying it and setting it up.

    As my development site stands now…

    I have WooCommerce and the Ultimate Member WooCommerce plugin.
    I have custom Ultimate Member user roles, one free, and two that will be paid.
    I have made two simple products marked as virtual that people can purchase that upgrade you to one of the two paid user roles depending on which you choose. I want these to be subscriptions.

    If Woo Subscriptions was added to this, would I be able to make the two virtual products (that integrate with Ultimate Member to upgrade the user custom role) into subscriptions?

    And if so, what would happen to the user at the end of the subscription period? eg, would that user be returned to their previous custom Ultimate Member user role?

    Really really really appreciate any help or guidance on this issue…!!

    I don’t think I’ve seen the ‘Ultimate Member’ integration plugin, but AFAIK this would need to monitor subscription changes to manage memberships and access. Subscriptions won’t do this for you. You should check with the dev of Ultimate Member to see if they are compatible.

    Subscriptions is compatible with the woothemes membership extension if an alternative is ever needed.

    Hi limitlessventas, unfortunately no I haven’t found anything yet. Haven’t been able to sort out a suitable solution so my site is still running completely free.

    We are using Ultimate Member and have their WooCommerce extension active on our member site. Here’s the extension: https://ultimatemember.com/extensions/woocommerce/

    We built our membership levels on the backend as WooCommerce products. Once an order is complete, we switch their role from a temporary role with no page viewing permissions to a full blown membership role with full access to the site.

    We’re coming up on our 1-year renewals, so I just purchased Subscriptions and I’m gauging how to implement it. I’ll give you all an update here once I figure it out!

    Late today, we made available a Subscription membership for NEW members on our site. Tested it with both ‘pay by check’ and ‘credit card’ several times and our test user was created just fine in Ultimate Member and the order was created in WooCommerce as expected. We edited a few of the email templates to use terminology that made a bit more sense for us. Our memberships are for one year, so I can’t speak to the renewal process yet.

    We are coming up on annual renewals for our existing members, so next week we’re going to test allowing existing Ultimate Member users to purchase a WooCommerce Subscription membership. I believe the key is to make sure existing members are logged in when they make the Subscription purchase, so the system will skip the step of creating a username and password in Ultimate Member.
