    Hi

I’ve asked a couple different questions around the project I am working on but since all of them fundamentally need to play nice with Ultimate Member I decided to ask if you have any plans on or would please, please consider creating a specific UM integration where the dashboard, listings, add listings, etc. could be added to UMs nav bar as a new tab. I have no clue how that works so it might be UM that needs to do it. Just asking.

So my remedy so far for directorist pages is to basically manually link to them on UM’s account dashboard page with a heading for Business Directory. Then restrict those form pages to those with permissions to add directory listings on “front end” that is actually only logged in members from the UM account dashboard and not wordpress’ defaul dashboard. There is no access to that. It’s basically a page with an account shortcode, same as Directorist but I can’t put directorist’s shortcode on that same page because its too much stuff on there. So I link to the directory dashboard.

I also have a forum and a jobs board and messaging board and they all integrate with UM and their add/view links show as tabs in UM’s nav bar.

Just thought I’d see if that’s anything you might consider. So far, directorist does seem to be playing nice with UM so a more formal integration would be super useful to all the UM users who like UM’s fantastic user registration, membership and profile customization options.

  • Hey @delanataylor,

We do have plans to bring integration to popular membership plugins such us Ultimate Members in the future.
About the Links on UM Nav, I think it falls under their jurisdaction. Adding pages to the menu should be handled by the menu creator, as far as I understand it.

    Thanks!

One last thing and then I think I can stop bugging you awhile.

If I created 3 separate directories, say jobs, marketplace, and business directory, will each of these have their own specific category options along with the form fields?

And should there be a specific category for cities and/or states? If so, would those be specific to their respective directories or if somebody searched Texas, then stuff from all directories would show up in search results for texas?

Not sure what categories are overlapping or if they are all separate per directory.

So is there an option to restrict what user roles can post listings? If not, I can set the page to user restricted but I am concerned about directorist’s own pages with links to “create a listing” and then anyone can access it. Is there a restrictions option?

    Thanks again!

    Hey @delanataylor ,

    1. Category depends on what are you setting as the directory type when creating the category. Let’s say if you create a category A and assigned it to Directory A, then this category will only appear on the Add Listing Form of Directory A.
    2. For locations I guess it’s better to assign all directories to all locations as they’re common, usually. When searching for different locations (Texas in your example), the search result will show the location of the default directory first and the user can switch between directories using the directory type nav.
    3. There’s no option for that within Directorist. As for the Create Listing links on Directorist pages, the link comes from the page you set as the Add Listing Page on Settings > Page Setup. So if you set the correct page there and then restrict that page for certain roles, you should be good to go.

    Regards,
    Mahdi.
