UK host recommendation

Can anyone recommend a UK host?

I have messed up my blog beyond repair and so need to reinstall from scratch. Since I have been having speed issues with my current host I figure I may as well use this opportunity to transfer my site to another host. I am currently with 123reg – the support team are helpful and very quick to respond but the server seems unreliable and my loading times are atrocious. They transfered me to a new, lightly populated server but this has not solved the problem.

All the recommendations on WordPress seem to be for the US and if I try to research the best hosts online I am just faced with loads of affiliate sites!
