• My FTP client (WinSCP), when connected to my hosting account (Network Solutions) shows a fourth permission “characteristic” for Owner, Group, and Other:

    Owner has a “Set UID” option
    Group has a “Set GID” option
    Other has a “Sticky Bit” option

    A Google search results in explanations that read like a foreign language. Can anyone explain in plain english what these file permission characteristics mean and what the appropriate settings are (from a security standpoint). I.e. 0755 vs 2755, etc.
