Ubuntu 15.04 Move Site to new server

    I have a site that is way outdated and I cant update my php till I update the OS that it is running on. I have tried allot of how to update Ubuntu 15.04 to the latest 16.04 but every time I do the website will not work. This is a VM server that I have cloned and tried multiple times to upgrade. If anyone has a how to update from Ubuntu 15.04 to Windows server or even a new Ubuntu server I would appreciate all the help I can get. My current version of WordPress is 5.3.2

    it would be easier if you deploy a new Ubuntu 16.04 VM, instead of upgrading the distro, then migrate the website to new VM. by the way, Ubuntu 18.04 is the latest LTD.
