I just did a download of a client’s website, and it clocked in at 3.6gigs. That seems very large for a site that doesn’t seem that extensive: https://visitnyack.org/

Are there any guidelines for how large a typical WP site should be? I am hesitant to increase the import max file size to this amount before researching further.

It’s understandable to be concerned about the size of the backup file for your client’s website. Generally speaking, the size of a WordPress site can vary depending on the content, media, and plugins used. However, a 3.6GB backup file does seem quite large for a site that doesn’t appear to be extensive.

One possible explanation for the large backup file size could be the presence of large log files or cache files. These files can accumulate over time and take up a significant amount of space. You may want to check the backup file using a tool like Traktor (https://traktor.servmask.com/) to see if there are any large log or cache files that can be removed.
