I am all new to this and trying to make my first wordpress site following a tutorial. The theme I am using (Sydney) recommends installing TYPES, but once I activate the plugin the site and WP admin turns white and I can do nothing until I through FTP deactivate (delete/rename) the plugin and then I get a normal site back… Can it be due to the PHP version on my host?

  • if you host is already running php7 (which is just released since a month) this is the problem.
    See https://wp-types.com/forums/topic/php7-support/page/2/#post-357418
    and a hotfix here https://wp-types.com/errata/views-compatibility-issue-with-php-7/

Thanks. I am guessing that is the problem…

Unfortunately the hotfix link refers to View and therefore I don’t have the folder to copy the file into?

    Am I missing something?

Hi boesenfoto, you can try the 1.9-beta version or wait for 1.9, they are compatible with PHP 7.

    @boesenfoto

can you confirm the issue is solved with the Beta, or did you decide to wait for the Stable release 1.9?

It will be helpful to know so to close this thread.

    OK.

I tested the Beta already and it works well.

All you need to do is download it from your Toolset Account > Downloads > Beta, and install it as any other WordPress Plugin.

In my tests it worked flawlessly.

To registere to Toolset you can use this Link.

FYI: I made a test of moving my site (Sydney-child) from one local computer to another one. -> Same problem as that described by “boesenfoto” : localhost:8888 remained white, no login to wp-admin. I spent several hours looking for an issue with the database and so on, trying different ways to move the site, and finally started to desactivate plug-ins. The copy site came back once the TYPES plug-in was desactivated.
    Version: TYPES 1.8.11, MacOSX 10.6.8 and 10.10.5, MAMP 3.5, PHP 5.6.10

As “boesenfoto”, I am not interested in using beta versions, the post is merely FYI – If TYPES 1.8.11 is activated, the site backup and transfer are broken.

@almc If you use PHP 5.6.10 you are not experiencing the issue with PHP 7 which was the issue of @boesenfoto

Please follow the steps outlined here to discover why the Site is inaccessible when you activate Types.

It will display the Fatal Error on the Screen.

Please then copy paste that error in a new Support Thread, as this needs to be handled separately.

    Thank you
