Typekit and Fontsquirrel not applying to targeted text

  • I’m afraid that I’m encountering the same issues as have been reported recently, with both Fontsquirrel and Typekit. When assigning a font from either font foundries to a CSS element, a generic serif font appears on the targeted element rather than the assigned font. When undoing the font assignment in Fontmeister, the text returns to its original font.

    The preview display when assigning the font within the settings screen in Fontmeister is also not displaying the fonts correctly.

    On a positive note, Fontmeister is connecting with Adobe Typekit perfectly.

    Any idea when we can expect this to get some attention?

    I have 3 fonts enabled by FontMeister at the moment for testing.

    – Cabin Sketch – bold, by Font Squirrel is targeted at “.site-description” (the main title “Development site for wmokrynski.com”). Cabin Sketch is a hand drawn looking font.
    – BPDOTSUNICASE – diamond regular, also by Font Squirrel, is targeted at h1.
    – FF Enzo – Light, from TypeKit, is targeted at H2 (“Site under construction”).

    In the preview window on the FontMeister settings page, both FontSquirrel fonts are being previewed with a generic serif font, and the TypeKit font is previewed with a generic sans serif font, if this means anything.

    Try this: go to FontMeister → Font Sources → Font Squirrel → Combine Font Squirrel CSS files. Set it to not combine the fonts and see if it makes a difference.

    If not, this is probably a bug precipitated by a change in Font Squirrel’s APIs (reported recently here). I will look at it this weekend.

    Set it to combine Font Squirrel CSS. I’m afraid that it did not fix the problem.
