TypeError: this._addClass is not a function

  • Our company website was old (2019). I worked to update the PHP and all the plugins. Unfortunately, i can’t modify my pages anymore. I get a TypeError: this._addClass is not a function. If i deactivate the theme core, then i can edit the page again. Is there a way to fix the situation ?

    Note : there’s no update for our theme anymore and the developper does not return my emails.

  • I assume you updated the WordPress core as well.

    It looks like a jQuery error – it’s possible that used theme JavaScript code is outdated and conflicts with the newest version of WordPress that updated jQuery version from 1.x.x. to 3.x.x (in WordPress version 5.6).

    That custom code needs to be modified, or change the theme.
