Two WordPress Installs, One Root URL, Pretty Permalink Fail
-
Hey all,
I’m having trouble finding anything useful on my problem, possibly because not that many people are running two installations of WP on one root. (It sorta happened through happy accident of my newbiness and the development of my project.)
In any case, I have one installation powering https://avantexte.com/thebleed/. There, pretty permalinks are set up and installed. I must have changed them without noticing the warning to remove write access, since my installation of wordpress doesn’t feed me the code required to do that. (I gather the fact that it doesn’t spit out the code I need has something to do with my phpMyAdmin version or something; I’m not too clear on that.)
I’m running another installation at avantexte.com. I had originally thought I’d handcode something static for the root, but changed my mind and went to wordpress. The site works fine, but if I try to change the permalink structure to anything prettier than the default, I get the write access and warning and then a 500 Error when I try to go to any other URL on the route, even different locations in the admin UI. Oddly, the journal at avantexte.com/thebleed, remains unharmed by this loss of the root site.
Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, etc? Am I just mad for running two installations of WP?
