I am trying to install two wholly separate installs of wp on our server (with separate databases), and can’t figure out how to make the second install point to it’s correct domain.

So I have two separate domain names, I created the first wp site and pointed it to the first domain, all is fine. Now I have created the second wp site and am attempting to point it to the second domain, but so far it’s pointing to the first as well.

I get the impression I need to make a change in the .httpd file, but don’t know what.

    Help!

  • Howdy,

Where is your site hosted? (Your own server? Some web host?)

    Take care,

Hi, yeah my own server. Using Wamp.

Something else which may be related and I forgot to include previously is that whenever I browse to localhost, it also redirects me to my first website. Instead of the Wamp page.

I just don’t know what steps I need to take to make both wp install point to their respective domain names.

    thanks, stuart

Does Wamp have an options panel where you enter the different domains you are hosting locally?

If it does, then for each domain, it should allow you to specify what directory the domain points to (this is really setting up your virtual hosts configuration for apache)

So, really… that’s what you need, is to figure out how Wamp supports virtual hosts.

Here, these folks are already talking about it:
    https://www.trailheadinteractive.com/creating_multiple_virtual_sites_a_single_apache_install_windows_xp

Alternatively… uWAMP has a nice interface for this:
https://www.uwamp.com/ but uWAMP hasn’t been updated in a while.

    Good luck,
    Paul

Many thanks for the links. Got me a lot closer but still not working properly. Been at this for days now. I’ll follow it up on the forums where they are talking about it. Thanks again.
