Can’t I do it without WP MU?

Hold on, I just read on WP MU codex page

WordPress MU is no longer under active development as a separate product. Its features were rolled into core and released with WordPress 3.0.

Does that mean if I upgrade from 2.9.2, I would be able to do that? If yes, did you try it? Because I don’t want to upgrade if you’re not sure because most plugins that I’m using are not supporting WP 3.0 yet..

    Please let me know

    anyone knows how to create a Sub-directories — like example.com/site1 and example.com/site2

so i have example.com/ using one theme and example.com/site using a different theme
