• I am looking for some help, after trawling the internet for days trying to find an answer for this.

I want to set up a mobile version of my website in a subdomain. I have tried doing a new install of wordpress in the subdirectory and then copying the wp-config.php file, but when I try to access the mobile version of the site it jumps back to the original site.

I don’t want to use a plug-in or RSS feed for the website, because RSS wouldn’t show the full posts and there aren’t any plugins that work properly with the latest version of wordpress that gives the flexibility of styling.

    Thanks, Ben.

WPTouchPro (a plugin, with a free AND paid version) work with WP 3.2 AND let you style quite a lot.

RSS can be configured to show full posts, however running a second site with 100% the same content as the main site is a sure fire way to get your SEO dropped by Google. They don’t like that.

I’ve looked into that, but the problem I had is that it didn’t always autodetect a few mobile phones that I tested it on and it wouldn’t let me set up a subdomain for those people who were accessing it on a mobile device which WPTouchPro doesn’t recognise. If you know a way to work around this I’d be incredibly grateful. I was going to not index the mobile version of the site to try and stop it affecting my SEO.

How were you planing to redirect people on mobile phones to the mobile site, out of curiosity? No system is perfect, but I’ve been using WPTouch (just bought Pro) for a while and everyone’s happy with it. You could tell them about the phones not detecting and they may have a fix.

Anyway, you COULD use one of these plugins to cross post:
Broadcast a post/page to other blogs. Whitelist, blacklist, groups and automatic category+tag posting/creation available.

Allows you to duplicate posts and pages to multiple sub-blogs at once.
