two similar feeds not possible
-
Hi,
I want to setup two similar feeds, with the only difference in the target country.
But categories I selected in the first are not available anymore in the second attempt.
Is this by design?Thank you
Tom

Tom,
What you’re describing is not by design.
A few questions to clarify your problem.
1) Are you using the latest version of the plugin? (should be version 1.3.1).
2) How did you make a copy of the first feed? I assume you just made a new feed with the same settings?
3) What category do you want to use for the feed?Hi Michel,
1) yes, my version is the latest 1.3.1
2) yes, I just used the same setting overall despite of ‘target country’
3) here I was unclear in my posting: I should have mentioned that I speak about the ‘Category Mapping’ area to the right hand and not the Google categories configuration to the left hand.Thank you
TomUpdate:
I realised that the ordering at ‘Category Mapping’ is inconsistent – which isn’t the big issue.BUT:
By trying to setup further feets, there are suddenly attributes listed in the ‘Required’ ‘Attribute Mapping’ settings which are not appearing in my almost identical feed I created before, named e.g.: item_group_id, multipack, shipping, is_bundle.In GMC I get errors in those newly created feeds like ‘product identifier provided … but identifier exists set to flase’; ‘missing age’; ‘missing gender’.
weirdTom,
– I had not identified that the Category Mapping is inconsistent before, but I will have them sorted correctly in the next update, so thanks for mentioning it.
– The attributes you’re listing are all country dependent. If you select a specific target country, the required list in the attribute mapping will change depending on the Google Feed Requirements for that specific target country. Could you please check https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112?hl=en? If you identify faults in the implementation of the specifications, please let me know.
– Is it possible that you did not fill in a required setting? eg age_group is required for some countries as can be seen in the specifications link in the previous paragraph. Could you maybe generate a feed on which GMC returns errors and send me a link to that feed so I can check it? And please tell me which target country you selected for that feed.
Hi Michel,
sorry for my late feedback:
The country dependent attributes seem all right – I’m using AT and DE as target, which indeed have quite different requirements.
What I don’t understand is why ‘multipack’ and ‘is_bundle’ appear in the ‘Required’ fields, cause my products are not specified as one of these types. However, leaving them empty does work. For the required attributes size and color it can become difficult by targeting these countries (for specific google categories within apparel & clothing).
The color in our system carring two informations, in one hand we have a more generic color attribute e.g. ‘blue’ and a second one which is the color name used for a garment or a specific manufactutrer color name e.g. ‘denim blue’. In the output I see them seperated with comma but google demands separation by slash (/) – (we do not use colors for product variations, the attributes set are used for other purposes.Include up to 3 colors. If your product is made up of several colors, you can specify 1 primary color followed by up to 2 secondary colors that are each separated by a slash ( / ). For example: Red/Green/Black. Don’t submit multiple colors with a comma ( , ).
The same but more problematic is the size attribute which does only accept one value.
In our case we get e.g. ‘Large (L), Medium (M), Small (S), XLarge (XL), XSmall (XS), XXLarge (XXL)’ in the feed output; we use this one for variations. So I guess targeting the german market in certain google categories which requires this attribute makes it neccessary to use your paid plugin – am I right?
Would the commercial version of your plugin be able to render this variations attributes e.g. ‘Large (L)’ into ‘L’?(And: do you provide purchase without tax for b2b customer when providing a VAT-ID (UID))?
Thank you
TomHello Tom,
The ‘multipack’ and ‘is_bundle’ fields where placed in the Required list because we where not able to define if they are required by the product information which is available to the plugin. Because we know they are important if required, we included them in the Required list anyway so the user can decide to use them or not.
Yes, the only way to split up different products is by using product variations. Our paid plugin does support product variations and will add variations as single products in the feed.
When your business is in the European Union you need a VAT number to a price without tax, if you’re outside the EU you don’t have to pay any tax.
Hope these answers are clear. Let me know should you still have issues.
Best regards,
MichelOK, on your checkout page for the premium version I don’t see a possibility to enter my VAT number, so how would I order to get an tax excemption?
Another prepurchase question: will the settings from the free version retain or must I create the feeds from the scratch?Thank you
