    Hi,

Does this plugin also process images via frontend submissions?

And let’s say i or someone uploads 2 times one and the same image, one time as featured image and one time the same image into/for the post, does deduper reuse the initially uploaded image “on the fly” for the post also or will it just make a duplicate warning?

    Thank you in advance

    Hi @questionator !

For the front end submissions question, the answer is “it depends”. If the front end submission is using the Media Library, then Media Deduper will catch the image. If the front end submission is using something else or uploading it to a custom directory, then likely it will not catch whether it is a duplicate.

As for featured image and the post content, MDD will recognize duplicates uploaded through the Media Library. If it is set to not upload any duplicates, then MDD will try to preselect the currently uploaded image instead of uploading a copy in the classic editor. In the Gutenberg blocks it will throw a warning to let the user know that an image already exists.

Note that the media and text editor, unfortunately, do not throw any warnings or errors — that’s a WP bug not a MDD bug.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions or info to share about your set up, please contact us at [email protected] for quicker assistance.

    Thank you,
    Monica
