• When I search for the keyword “lace curtains” two of my pages show up on Google’s 2nd page. For years my home page has shown up on Google’s 1st page. That does not happen any more. I have heard that, now that two pages are showing, they both will be penalized in placement. What can I do to solve the problem. The strange thing is that in neither of the pages have I listed “lace curtains” as a “focus or related” keyword. The two pages are https://www.oldeworldelace.com/ and https://oldeworldelace.com/product-category/lace-curtains/heritage-lace-curtains/. Can you suggest how I can improve the situation? Thanks in advance.

  • Sounds to me like you coveted the website to WordPress from some other code base without considering the SEO side of things.

Either way you’re going to want to set up a site map and also install an SEO plugin such as yoast to get things back to normal. once yoast is installed you will want to make sure to set all the settings and also go page by page to set the descriptions, keywords, etc.

Hope this helps. Once you find a solution that you’re happy with please tag the thread resolved.

What have you recently changed with your website? As for penalties, you do not receive a penalty for duplicate content – typically one of the pages just won’t be displayed in the results. Also, those pages have completely different content, so it’s working as intended.

What does your google webmaster look like?
