Hi, is it possible to setup a second network in a subfolder on the same domain?

The main site is already setup on a network with a few subsites, but would like to setup another network where I can have another group of subsites in that network.

Is it possible with this plugin or does it require a new domain for the new networks? Can’t find a solution so hope this is it.

    Thanks

  • Hello Duke, If I understand you correctly you want to setup one of your sub-sites as it’s own network. This is referred to as nested sub-domains and it is very difficult. We attempted this but it unleashed a can of worms that we didn’t have the time or patience to resolve and you can’t even attempt to set something up like this unless you’re on a Dedicated Server with some very rare php modules activated (and stable themselves).

    You can however setup a second, third, forth, etc… Network as long as you map the domain’s to your install. e.g. mysite.com | myothersite.com | anotherdomain.com | mycooldomain.com | myclientsdomain.com etc…

The settings under Networks for WordPress are much more extensive than WP Multi Networks which can make the process more robust or fragile. Learning how to use all of the settings is the primary key to resolving successful networks to your install. We also use Buddypress for Networks by BuddyDev with this for multiple independent social communities https://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-multi-network/

    I hope this helps!
