    Hi
I have a live page https://www.swantec.com, where I have defined a sidebar like this:
    – Navigation menu – English
    – Navigation menu – German
    – Tag cloud – English
    – Tag cloud – German

    This works fine.

BUT now I have a stagging page where I need to do the same. But every time I change the category/language – it change both definitions to the same.

So I end up with two times Navigation Menu and Tag cloud in the same language – and on the language page I therefore get the same “language” of the sidebar.

I have tried to make the solutions but by using own designed sidebars and to use the standard solution of custom sidebar – the same result.

Do you have any suggestion to why the problem occurs at the stagging page and not the live?

    I run Polylang 2.6.7
    WP 5.3

  • Hi @rincon

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

Before going any further, could we try some basic troubleshooting?

    1) I’m assuming that the staging site is on the same server/hosting account as the live one and it’s got pretty much the same configuration (theme, other plugins etc), right?

    2) Is there any cache (on site and/or server) for the staging site active? if yes, have you tried to clear it?

    3) did you try to… re-save current permalink settings on the staging site? If not, give it a try, please – don’t make any changes, simply save them again.

I know these are simple steps but you didn’t mention them and they often help in similar cases. If that doesn’t work, let us know here, please, and we’ll see what to do next.

    Best regards,

    Hi Adam
    Thanks for your reply.

    1) Yes same setup
    2) Cache cleared
    3) No – I didn’t resave the permanlink – THOUGH now I tried, and it didn’t make any change

As it seems that I have other issues on the stagging site, I will return, if it is still a problem on the life site later.

    Thanks

I have now the site live and experienced the same problem.

Though, I think the reason may have been that I “cloned” the content of the widget instead of starting from scratch with the next language.
Now, when I have created the function from scratch it seems to work.

    Hi @rincon

Thank you for updates and I’m sorry for the long overdue.

Yes, the fact that it was cloned might have a meaning here as the configuration and related data in the database would also be cloned. Creating it “from scratch” gives a “fresh start” so no “pre-existing” configuration would interfere ??

    Best regards,
    Adam
