I have set up a simple badge to be awarded when a user logins for the first time. ( I am using the plugin theme my login for registration and logins).
    The logs show the following:

    badger triggered wp_login (1x)
badger unlocked the “Lumberjack x 1″ step
    badger triggered badgeos_unlock_step (1x)
badger unlocked the “Lumberjack x 1″ badge
    badger triggered badgeos_unlock_badge (1x)

This triggers the award of two badges. 1 for the lumberjack x 1 badge and also one for the Lumberjack x 1 step. The badge proper has a custom badge but the step generates the generic thumbs up badge and these are piling up in my media folder.
I can hide the step badge by showing only badges on the user profile using the short code [badgeos_user_achievements type=”badge”].

Why are two badges being awarded? Is a badge awarded for every step even multiple steps? Is the workaround simply to hide the step badges using the short code on the page and the checkbox on the widget?

    Many thanks for your help

The steps are a component of the actual achievement. If you set up 3 steps to earn 1 achievement, say: login, create a new post, and comment on a post, then the user needs to earn each step in order to earn the achievement. Think of them as micro-achievements, and as something that’s controlled internally by the BadgeOS plugin.

As you noted, you can hide the steps portion for users, which would be a good idea, I agree. Just know that the achievement you manually created is the one to worry about most. You are correct with that workaround part.

I think we were supposed to have solved the multiple media library issue in a previous release. What version are you running for our plugin?

Thanks for that. That has helped my understanding of the working process. I think the concept and the plugin are an excellent idea. I am running 1.3.5. It looks like the default badge is being added each time a step or award is triggered. I think the work around is to attach one of my badges to the step stage.

I haven’t tried, but I wonder if it checks for a “default” image for the achievement and uses that for the steps as well. If it doesn’t, then it eventually works its way back to this thumbs up one that it fetches from Credly.
