Hi – I went through the social media instructions in AIOSEO. I got FB working correctly but not twitter. It is set to summary with large image and first image in content. We have no photos showing up on twitter at all.

Same when we post the homepage to twitter. I have that set to show the featured image but it doesn’t show any image.

    Please help? Thanks.

    Hey @eac2015,

Do you see any images when you debug your homepage URL using Twitter’s card validator?

Hi – There is no photo, just a generic colorless scroll thing.
    Thanks.

Can you post the URL of your homepage here? I’d like to inspect the source code to see what our plugin is outputting.

It’s happening because you’re blocking Twitter from accessing the image through your robots.txt by disallowing access to /wp-content/uploads/.

can I ask you a few things? I thought robots.txt was related to indexing. Why would the photos show up fine on FB but not twitter? What am I missing?

The robots.txt basically tells search engines and other bots what they can and cannot access on your website; it’s not exactly the same as noindexing something, because if you noindex a page, they can still access it; they just won’t include it in search results. If you disallow it in your robots.txt however, you completely block their access to it.

However, not every bot “listens” to what your robots.txt tells them to do; I can only assume that Facebook’s bot is one of those and it ignores robots.txt rules.

Thanks for explaining that. I’ll have to rethink this.
