Twitter login/activation loop

Hi all,
I am using Theme My Login.
Each time I try and log in via Twitter:
1) I get the message on the log in screen “Your registration was successful but you must now confirm your email address before you can log in. Please check your email and click on the link provided.”
2) I receive the email, which says to complete activation, click the link, which I do.
3) This gets me to my login screen again with the message “Your account has been activated. You may now log in.”
When I click the Twitter icon again to log in, it goes back to 1) and asks for email confirmation again!
According to user area, the user is successfully activated.
Any ideas?
Am i misunderstanding the plugin? When you have created a new account using Twitter, are you supposed to log in using the WordPress username and password sent? Is the plugin purely for registration?
