• At some point in the past few weeks (I wish I could narrow it down more than that), the ability to use a Twitter login for comments on my site has disappeared. WordPress.com and Facebook logins still are available. The link I provided is just a random sample; this behavior exists for all posts on the site, AFAICT.

We all know that Twitter is going through some things, and I easily could have overlooked a new step that’s required to get this working again. Is that the case, or is there a more widespread issue?

    Hi @desmith,

Twitter has recently announced that they will stop offering free access to their API, which we use to share content on their platform. We have attempted to work with them in good faith to negotiate new terms, but we have not been able to reach an agreement. As a result, we have removed the Twitter connection from Jetpack Social. We sincerely empathize with your concerns as this is not the outcome we were hoping for. That means the log in with Twitter option is not going to work as well. More details on this can be found here:

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. If you need further assistance or have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

Are you considering adding an option for users to enter their own Twitter API keys for this purpose? I really like having the different login options visually unified. (I know that it’s a bit of added complexity which is kinda not Jetpack’s vibe, but in this case I’m not sure there are many other options.)

@desmith We are not considering that at this time. It may be something we implement in the future though!
