I want to be sure I have this correct:

I need to change my Twitter image:card. In order to do this, I go to the FACEBOOK tab?

What? Is this going to screw up any Facebook things? What if I want a different image for Facebook and Twitter? This is something I was working on (I’d have the name Facebook or Twitter included on each image).

I am guessing that Facebook just provides the open graph stuff that everybody uses? Seems like a little note to that effect in the Twitter tab would be useful.

When you edit a post or page and scroll down to the Yoast SEO meta box, and then click on the ‘social’ icon, there should be separate tabs, one for Facebook and one for Twitter.

It’s possible you haven’t enabled Twitter cards. To do so, you can follow the steps here — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/setting-up-twitter-cards-in-wordpress-seo/ & https://kb.yoast.com/kb/custom-twitter-tags/

I do have twitter cards enabled. I see the fb and twitter tabs and what they do . . . what I was really needing was to get my twitter image:card to get corrected so the validator tool would see the logo. In order to accomplish that, I had to change the facebook image in Yoast > Social > Facebook > Frontpage settings (I changed Default Settings > Image URL to match the frontpage settings as well).

For some reason, chaning that facebook tab corrected the twitter image:card. I found those directions someplace–possibly in y’all’s website, but I can’t remember for certain, but it def made no sense to change a FB setting to alter a twitter card, but it did.

I plan on letting my meta descriptions etc. and the featured image to be used for twitter and fb for the most part, but when there is a problem with the featured image, I want my logo to be there as backup.

You can define the image for Twitter by editing a post or page and then scrolling down to the Yoast SEO meta box and then clicking the social icon and then the Twitter tab.

If there’s no image set in the Twitter tab, it will use the one defined on the Facebook tab. If there’s no image defined there, it will use the post’s featured image. If there is no featured image, it will use the default image under SEO > Social > Facebook.

Exactly. If I want a default image for Twitter should the featured image default not work, then I have to change facebook setting. That really makes very little sense. I get that I can set a different image in the SEO box below the editor should I want to override the featured image, but how do people know that if they don’t have a featured image in a particular post or page that they need to change a facebook setting in order to get a default twitter image in its place?

Just seems like a footnote on the twitter tab would be smart: “if you don’t have a featured image defined or an image defined in the Yoast SEO box below your editor and you want a default image, please change the facebook image in the Facebook tab above.”
