• Hello,

I discovered an issue with Twitter Embed.

I am trying to embed a tweet with a link https://twitter.com/EstonianGovt/status/1499036381850615816. If I embed a clean link with no extra http parameters, then it does not work. When I add for example ‘?v=2’ at the end of the link, then it works.

You can see both examples in here. First link is not working the second one is working.

Edit: Disabling all the plugins did not resolve the problem. I am using the latest WordPress, 5.9.3.

Actually, none of the Twitter URLs on that page appear to embed. However, Twitter embeds using the exact same URLs work on my site.

Disabling plugins may not be enough, your theme or a must-use plugin could be somehow interfering with oEmbed process used.

Or possibly there is some sort of misguided IP or region blocking going on somewhere. I’ve no evidence of this, but since Estonia borders on Russia and given the current state of world affairs, it cannot be entirely discounted.

After a day or less it stops working. Before it was working.

EDIT: Yes, it works on some sites and not in our live environment. For example in my local development the Twitter’s tweet is rendered, but it stops working after sometime in our live site.

If it works for you locally, it indicates an issue at your host’s server.

It sounds like some sort of overly aggressive security or firewall configuration somewhere. The embedded content gets relayed from Twitter through your server before getting to your browser. Security applied to Internet traffic at the server can prevent proper embedding. I suggest asking your host for assistance.
