Twitter cards not working for individual posts

    Elon removed article headlines from links on twitter. It’s now just the image. So we’ve been trying to update all our article images to have some kind of text description as part of the thumbnail.

    We’ve updated over 20 pages but Twitter’s still pulling from the previous image on all but one. The SEO framework social tab on each post reflects the new image. Still not working.

    I wouldn’t bow down to Musk’s asininity just yet. I recommend switching from “summary_large_image” to “summary,” which still conveys a URL embed clearly.

    Nevertheless, to the actual issue at hand, Twitter keeps a cache of (image) URLs shared to their platforms. It may take a few days or reshares before the images are refreshed on their side.

    However, this workaround may do the trick: Rename the thumbnail images and reshare the article links on a disposable account. Check via another browser if the images are refreshed for the older tweets.
