twentytwelve: masthead position fixed – bad title alignment

Wanted to fix masthead position absolutely but cannot properly position the text element inside it.

I was aiming for something like this wpcom-header here.

But cannot left-align my title: See my test page

Will I have to get my hands dirty with php or can it be done in a child css?
