TwentyTen Version 2.2 versus Version 2.9

Hello All,

I would like to get a quick mental refresher course or explanation why selecting the updated TwentyTen Version 2.9 Theme resets or rearraanges my website layout.

Is there a quick and easy way to retain the same website design and layout, when upgrading from TwentyTen Theme Version 2.2 to Version 2.9?

Thus, I have kept TwentyTen Version 2.2 (Active)

An aoo thing happened, recently, to precipitate this concern for updating everything to the latest and greatest.

Occasionally, I will open Google in my web browser and type, Cassidy Photography, into the Search Bar. Just want to be sure my website is still on top and reflectinmg correct description, etc. March 10, 2020 I did just that but noticed the Descriptive Text, beneath the weblink was describing a website for Essay Yoda.

I opend my WordPress Dashboard, rummaged around, and discovered the Eassay Yoda website and descriptive text was embedded into my Theme Header (header.php) file. It took me the next 4 days to clean out the Malware damage done by some bored little shite, in permanent self-isolation, with one hand adjusting his Coke bottle eye glasses and the other flogging away.

35 files were identified as infected, with SL-PHP-FILEHACKER-adr and SL-PHP-FILEHACKER-xt and SL-PHP-EVAL_REQUEST-awio and SL-PHP-BACKDOOR-GENERIC-md5-buds and SL-PHP-INJECTOR-1-evc that mostly infected index.php files and some others in -includes, -content, and -admin . . . Fun stuff, huh?!

My website is not a blog, nobody can email me through it, or leave any comments, yet someone made two blog posts as ADMIN. And, the Esay Yoda website uploaded a sample essay in PDF format to my website. Not sure how this was possible. Not sure why the person did it, just to prove they could. Big whoop! Mine is a photography wesbite and gives lots of infomation and even instructional advice. Mine is a website that features various photos I have taken.

So, back to my opening, about updating everything. I am looking for a simple method or explaination how to retain my website layout and design, when upgrading to TwentyTen Version 2.9
