Twentyten child theme – customizing footer widget area

  • Hello,

    I’m building a child theme for Twentyten theme. I have two issues to solve..
    1. How can i create four sections just before footer, each one has an image that links to a post or a page inside the website.
    2. I need to show in the right side of the template (instead of selected widgets) a new widget that would be named as Featured posts and has post that would be marked as Featured posts.

    Any help with these two issues?
