Twenty Twenty-Four child Theme with Google Font Alegreya causes PHP Warning

    PHP Warning:? Undefined array key “name” in /home/hh/domains/fifthpress.org/public_html/style/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/src/Internal/ComingSoon/ComingSoonRequestHandler.php on line 188

    (note I wrote hh instead of some private hosting name)

    The error is printed on my log file located in /public_html/wp-content/debug.log
    in order to see the logs /public_html/wp-config.php should have

    way to reproduce:

    with active Plugins: Create Block Theme (by www.remarpro.com), WooCommerce and WooCommerce.com Update Manager.
    And a fresh install of Theme Twenty Twenty-Four, please follow these steps:
    1. Appearance-> Create Block Theme -> Create child of Twenty Twenty-Four-> Theme Name “Twenty-Four Child”-> Generate-> zip of Twenty-Four Child will be downloaded
    2.?Appearance-> Theme-> Add New Theme-> Upload Theme-> choose the zip of Twenty-Four Child and upload-> Activate
    3. Appearance-> Manage Theme Fonts-> Add Google Font-> Alegreya-> Select the font variants you want to include:-> Select all-> Add Google Fonts to your theme

    This will result in the above mentioned error. Alegreya SC font will produce the same bug.
    This bug will not reproduce with the Twenty Twenty-Four parent Theme, only with a child of it, produced with WordPress’s official Create Block Theme plugin.

  • Same error with a custom block Theme (child theme of Automattic’s Block Canvas) with custom fonts defined in theme.json.

    I simply commented out line 28 in ~/woocommerce/src/Internal/ComingSoon/ComingSoonRequestHandler.php and so far haven’t noticed anything missing; I think it’s something to do with WooCommerce’s more and more insistent handholding, as the function checks for if ( ! Features::is_enabled( ‘launch-your-store’ ) ) {

    I tried replicating this error on my testing site, but it didn’t pop up. Everything appears to be running smoothly without any hiccups.

    However, since you can reproduce this error and @philbee successfully resolved it by editing core files, I recommend you create a bug report on our GitHub repo here. This way, our developer team can check and share further insights.

    I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get some further insight.

    I am sorry, I understand now that there are a few more steps required to reproduce this bug.

    You might also need to have an active store in WooCommerce. If you have no store in WooCommerce then the WooCommerce code might not run at all.

    After enabling WP Debug mode, the site will only generate a debug log file if an error occurs. Since there weren’t any errors, it didn’t create any log files.

    1. Load the website as a user and click any link in it to reach another page in the website
    2. Locate the log file and open it to see if the error appears in it

    No luck even following this additional steps.

    You might also need to have an active store in WooCommerce. If you have no store in WooCommerce then the WooCommerce code might not run at all.

    I’m running tests on my active test site, which has WooCommerce installed and activated and is connected to the WooCommerce.com site.

    Additionally, I’ve conducted tests on a live site owned by a friend of mine (here).

    Furthermore, if you believe this is a bug that needs addressing, I recommend you create a bug report in our GitHub repo here. That way, our developer can check it out and give further insights.

    Rest assured, we haven’t received any related reports and haven’t been able to reproduce it either.
