twenty-twelve theme float content in archive.php

I’m trying to float content (CPTs) that is displayed using archive.php. I can do this non-responsive but if twentytwelve theme is responsive then everything breaks up. The content is being loaded from the taxonomy picker plugin and is displayed using archive.php thats renamed to taxonomy.php. Does anyone know of tutorials or code examples on doing this.
