• Hi,
I have written a series of tutorails that start with the default twenty ten

Finishing with a near premium Business Theme.

These are all for the latest “WordPress 3” and take you through some of the new features, using the new template_parts for many theme elements.

If you want to learn then the tutorials are written in an easy to understand style, the supporting files can be downloaded to help you along, and so you can compare the results.

    Tutorials in the first set

    • Getting Started
    • The Second Menu
    • Smooth Slider
    • Hide Titles
    • Post Images
    • Layouts
    • Widgetized Areas
    • Left Sidebars
    • Right Sidebars
    • Content Page

    Tutorials in the Second Set

    • Getting Started 2
    • Menu Images
    • Graphic Searchbox
    • Hide Titles
    • Admin Options Page
    • Header Logo and Info Panels
    • Social Media Bars
    • Cimy Header Image Rotator

    • Two Post Columns (12th September)
    • Category Page (12th September)
    • Tidy Up (12th September)

Hope that these will help beginners feel comfortable with theme development.

  • very nice tutorials – good job

The tutorials looks good, and I will try to go through them when I get a chance. But there is one thing that concerns me and that is the website is loading veeery slow. especially the demo of the business theme.
Is it the slider that slows down the site?

    Hi webmag,
My ISP is looking into this I have already posted a support ticket.

I am not sure if it is the plugin, the demo website has only the two, I think it might be a server side memory problem with delivering the content.

I am using Quick Cache at the moment, but what it claims does not seem to match with the rendering.

When I ran the Demo 7:24 GMT today

Great tutorials!! I will bookmark your page and come back later to finish. Have you actually had anyone donate using your paypal button?? Just curious, as I was thinking about putting one on my blog as well. thanks.

    @ferriwinkle,
In six months about two donations.

I tried a subscription plugin with a view to having some premium content for subscribers, Wp-Member (paid) worked well with standard WordPress but not with BuddyPress plugin.

I changed to the s2Member plugin and that was what I just had to disable & remove to speed up the website, something was killing the page load time.

I am not saying it is a bad plugin, as it may have conflicted with something eles I have loaded.

I am thinking that the general feeling is that WordPress stuff is free, so unless your content has a real proven value, all you can do if offer it for free and pick up a few pennies from AdSense.

    HTH
