• Am using the Twenty Ten theme here:

    https://www.dungeness.org.uk/

    For some reason the header, a default from the theme, and the rest of the page is showing much wider than it should be.

    What is the problem and how can I resolve it back to its default size.

    TIA

  • That is the twenty ten theme and not the twenty eleven, the twenty eleven theme was the active theme before, that is the one that needs updating back to default, deactivate delete and re-install!

    I would strongly suggest the child theme route after updating twenty eleven, WordPress is due an update in the middle of May, if you change the default themes you will lose the changes in the update ??

    Installed the TwentyTen theme and that has resolved the original sizing issue.

    fine –

    you need to decide which theme to use
    – Twenty Eleven with the theme options to select a ‘dark’ color scheme;
    – or Twenty Ten with a width of 960px.

    in either case, create a child theme to make tehedits in.

    if you want a ‘dark’ Twenty Ten, you need to edit style.css of its child theme quite intensively;

    if you want a narrower (possibly fixed width ?) Twenty Eleven, you also need to edit style.css of its child theme.

    btw:

    which is unedited from another site with that theme.

    before copying template files from another site, make absolutely sure that the sites are using the same theme.
