Twenty Ten Theme – Footer – Widgets side by side instead of stacked

Does anyone know of a simple way to make the widgets in the footer of the Twenty Theme become side by side instead of stacked on top of one another?

I did some research and found a few topics which did not work for me.

I assume there is a simple edit to the styles.css – but I am not quite sure if that is it, or if I have to created and modify the php files too.
