• Hi all,

I’ve managed to hide the widgets on the other pages by changing the template layout to one column, but cannot figure out how to do the same on the main page. I don’t want any sidebar widgets at all on my site, as it’s meant to serve as a web site and not a blog site for now.

    Thanks!

  • You can do that using custom post template I have a article and video on my website on how to set one one up so you will have same option like you have for pages.

See Creating_a_Static_Front_Page. Use the same template for the Home page as you did for the other pages.

@esmi he wants to create a blog page with out side bars and that is not option in posts like we have in pages.

it’s meant to serve as a web site and not a blog site for now.

That doesn’t sound like a posts page for the front page to me…

I created the static front page, but I’m getting Leave a Reply fields, which I don’t want either:

I created one page, not two, and called it About Us.

Wait, I just got it to behave;) Unfortunately, the page menu bar link is still called Home, but I can live with that:)

    Thanks people!

Looks like you using About page as front page if you want that to be Home then create a Home Page and use that as Front Page.

No, I want the About Page to be the About Page. I want to get rid of the word Home everywhere completely.

Then use About page as front page in Settings General

I don’t see that option under General Settings, only under Reading Settings, and I already did that as Esmi indicated.

Sorry my mistake it is Reading

I see you using a twenty ten theme so you can create a Custom Menu by clicking on
Appearance>>>Menus and change your header labels from there so change Home to About Us then you will not have Home as Title of page.
