twenty-sixteen Customizer option “Static Front Page” has a setting for a “Posts page”.
Does this setting have any effect at all?

On setting the “Posts page”, I can’t see any difference in the resulting html, and googling the topic isn’t generating any meaningful result either, so what is this setting for?

  • When a page is set to be “Posts page”, the content of that page will not be used, only its URL is used as a page that displays list of posts (called Blog’s home page or Posts Page).

This URL (of a page set as “Posts Page”) is mainly used in menu.

thanks but that’s not the question, the question is:

If you go to “Customize” a twenty-sixteen theme, and choose “Static Front Page”, Front page displays a static page, there is then an option to set:
    “Front Page”
    and
    “Posts Page”

However, when these are set the theme only actually uses the “Front Page” setting and the “Posts Page” setting is completely ignored.

At least, I assume I must be mistaken, since this is a well tested core theme, the “Posts Page” setting on this screen must exist for some reason.

However, when these are set the theme only actually uses the “Front Page” setting and the “Posts Page” setting is completely ignored.

Did you mean that when you visit the URL of the page that’s set as “Posts Page”, it doesn’t show list of posts?

No that is not what I mean, Posts page works fine.
The question is, is the menu setting under Customizer, Static Front Page, Post Page intended to have any effect? if so, what? if not, why does the setting exist? (eg twenty-sixteen theme)
… indeed as post and page are very common terms, searching isn’t finding any answer to this question.

    Have you demistyfied this?

    I am puzzled also.

I find this very confusing too…, hopefully we can get an answer for it.

I don t understand this difference either. I have a problem since a few days. I cannot get the webpage display my homepage content to logged out users. To troubleshoot the problem. I resetted and desactivated all pluggins, tried static frontpage. So far no help. I am really stuck.

Does anybody solve this issue? paulwpxp is not even understanding the question, OMG! The question is what is posts page link when I set a static page in the front/home. For I want my user to click a link/menu to go to my blog site/posts page, like a regular blog page/posts. Is it possible?
