  • Hello there! I have exactly the same problem and I tried everything you are writing about and nothing helps. Did you find any solution?

@sterndata this (set static page first and save) solved it for me. Thanks for posting!

I had this problem, found out what it was, I had tried to enqueue a external jquery script in functions.php, I put the script at the end of functions.php in stead of around line 420, and the “Theme Options” came back in the customiser ??

I’ve been having the same issue with OP and several other posters. I’ve already spent a great deal of time trying to figure out wtf is going on here and have yet to find anything that explains this behavior…
I had first started with a 2017 child theme, gone through the “standard” setup, permalinks, static front page etc but I’m not even trying to make a onepage style site with sections … I’m merely wanting to use the one column functionality in “Theme options” which disappeared despite the static front page setting.
So I’ve disabled all plugins that I had, issue didn’t resolve itself, tried to reactivate them one after the other, nothing changed. Did a WP reset and removed my child theme (which really had nothing in it, just the basic style.css) and set my static front page (sample page) and I opened the customizer… what happened then was interesting to say the least… customizer menu loads and a couple of seconds later, “Theme options” appears but that’s about it. Customizer loads as if I had already made changes to the site, I don’t have the greyed out saved button, it’s save & publish and it does not do anything…. whether I make changes or not it won’t save anything.
I’ve gone through another set of resets…. nothing.

I’m planning to do complete wipe and reintall to see if the issue persists…
It’s the first time I notice that so I’m not sure if it was always like so

    Hello,
I am having the same problem. On the first post when I scroll down I have the header as a single illustration . So far ok.

The problem comes when I make a second post. All the texts are joined together on a single while page and I have no way of adding any other illustrations so that when I scroll down I can see them behind. On my dashboard I can’t get access to the part which opens up all the different squares in my main editing page and I’m going round in circles.

I have tried to understand the above explanations but I am very new to all this and I am having a hard time following them. Does anyone know of a plugin that has resolved this situation ?

Regarding code, I am frightened to use it and break my site. Also, because I don’t really understand the explanations, I don’t know if they are the answer to the problem I’m looking to solve.

Does anyone have any advice ? Thanks

Hi, I am awre this is an older thread, but I came across it having similar issue: I have a wordpress Multisite install, and use customised twenty-seventeen child them for several sites. On some of these, the customiser didn’t work properly, such as the theme Options not appearing in the customiser.
The issue in my case seemed to be a setting within the domain-mapping plugin: in the Domain Mapping Configuration page, I deselected the 4th Option: Redirect administration pages to site’s original domain (remote login disabled if this redirect is disabled), and the customiser worked again.

I thought I’d share this here, in case others encounter similar issues.

    Hi all,
I had the same issue and i solved it. It was because I had some php error in my code and then it did not generated the footer..(I had not the admin toolbar when i visited my website as admin).
I advice you to set your WP_DEBUG as true in wp-config.php
After that my toolbar came back, and the theme option also.

    Hope it will help you
