Twenty Fourteen looks different to the original look of the theme

I have activated the theme and my header starts from the very left and finishes in the center and on the left I have a massive white space. The original Twenty Fourteen theme looks centered and the header starts not from the far left but somewhat in the center. Why do I have my grid or slider starting after the header. Please help.
