Twenty Fourteen – customizer not working

  • Hi, I’m running WordPress 4.5.3 and the Twenty Fourteen theme, but when I try to customize it with the theme customizer the options that are supposed to be there according to the documentation are not in fact there. Specifically, I’m trying to activate the slider. the codex says “Under *Featured Content* select your preferred layout from the drop down,” and there is no featured content. What is going on?
