Twenty Fifteen theme adjustments — help

Hi,

I’ve installed the TwentyFifteen theme to my website.. hoping it would look look another site that uses TwentyFifteen. To my surprise.. it didn’t.. At all. For one, the left (main) frame is very far (to the right) from the left-hand menu.. I just don’t find my site to look professional at all.

I tried to fool around with Custom CSS, custom CSS plugins..etc. Nothing would change. Nor I am not able to wrap my head around the creation of a Child Theme..

Can anyone help me make my site https://danaburns.net look like https://www.clairechauvel.fr/ ? You’ll see, her right frame is a lot closer to the left .. as well as the left menu bar. And her left menu bar is less spaced out – more neat and compact. No space between lines. There is just way too much space on my site! Also, every line of text on my site was a huge space in between lines (it looks normal on my phone though.. ugh).

Also, on my Paintings page, the text captions below my paintings are really large as well.

If anyone would help I’d greatly appreciate it!
