• I have tried to find a solution in the forum. But no of the suggestions in other threads worked for me. I work with WordPress 3.3 and the theme Twenty Eleven. It is shown correctly in Safari and Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 but when I try to open pages in Internet Explorer 9 I only see a blank page displaying the selected background colour. When I switch to other themes the pages are visible in IE9.
I even found other pages in the web using Twenty Eleven that shared the problem – none of them are displayed correctly in IE9.
I have only done minor changes to the style. And I deleted the theme and installed a new fresh one without script changes – the page kept blank.
Is there any solution to this?

Have you tried validating your site for CSS and markup errors?

    How do I do that?

Thanx a lot. I just tried a validation tool – it finds a lot of errors. But nothing I have written into the theme. It seems odd that I have to change the original files, doesn’t it?

It is so funny. I just have to delete the “Helvetica” font front the style and then it works in IE9 *omg*

OMG! You’re right! Thank you KateMosch for posting this.

I’ve been going crazy trying to find what trips up IE9 and causes a blank page. I’d never have thought of the font in a million years! But removing all helvetica and Helvetica Neue from twentyeleven style sheet works a treat. The oddest thing of all is having helvetica in my theme style sheet causes no problems.

    thank you!

For some reason removing helvetica and helvetica neue does not work for me. When going to my site in IE it starts by opening up and showing header, menu bar, posts and sidebar in a few seconds, then changes to listing the post full screen with now nothing else. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Sounds even more strange than my problem. I don’t know a solution ??
Do you only see the post – and no layout?
Than you might have made an error in the general settings.
Or is the screen totally blank?

I can see the posts & the pictures I have embed in the posts, as well as the facebook comments that I have used to replace the twenty eleven comments, But no header, no menu, no sidebar – as you say, no layout. I will have a look at the general settings to see if you are on to something… Thanks for caring ??

Could be some error between WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL). If the Site is unable to connect to the WP-templates, it just shows posts but not the layout.

How do I find out, do you know? It’s my first time ever building a site where I change things in the theme so I am likely to have done something wrong somewhere…

I’m not sure – but I had a similar error once I had a typo in one of these two fields. So I would check if both addresses are correct.
Your site is obviously unable to connect to the templates.
If it doesn’t work – I have no idea ??
    But hopefully somebody else has?

Sorry to ask cilly questions, but exactly where do I look to find out
Thank you for being so patient and helpful.

    No problem!
    Dashboard – Settings – General
You have to write WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) there – check if the addresses are correct!

LOL – all by a sudden I was thinking “it must be complicated”. Thanks. However, everything is ok with the url`s.
I turned on Compatibility View in IE and the site showed up ok only with minor flaws. But, I can not rely on visitors to my site being aware of this and all they will see is a long list of posts appearing to be lost in the middle of nowhere. Does anyone know how I can resolve this?
