• I am new to Word Press and am developing some simple one page landing sites for my clients. I am a graphic designer.

I am using the Twenty Eleven theme and have several issues to solve:

    1) I am hiding the site title under theme options and uploading my own art for the header. There is a thin grey line above my file on the header. How do I remove?

    2) How do I remove the search bar from the menu area?

    3) I’m using the Showcase template, how do I remove “Recent Posts” from the bottom?

    4) Inserted photos and tables show with a thin grey line around them. How do I remove?

    5) Is there a simple way to change the background color of the page to something other than white or black? In Twenty Ten in the style.css wrapper the color could be changed. I don’t see that in this one.

Thanks for any help you can offer. The site I’m referreing to is https://www.ArrangingInteriors.com

    Thanks!

  • Is it possible to keep the large photo banner but add a logo to the text on the top of the page that includes the site title? https://www.test.rosiesyarncellar.com/

Hi I’m also trying to take out the search bar and the comment section, except i’m using the child theme can anyoone please help me. I’m a complete noob like as of yesterday so if you can explain for my situation i’d really appreciate it.

I am a EARLY beginner and I’m trying to get rid of the search box and was told never mess with the code. I did that and crashed my site. Now I’m back and still need to remove this code. I have found the spot, in style.css, where TexasMouse said it would be. There are several “#branding .only-search #s” one with background, border, color and the next background-color.

I don’t see a “display” there. Do I add “Display-none” by making a hard return then past it in….

I really don’t understand how to create a child theme as I am very new to word press and to creating a website. I want to get rid of or change the colour of the black bar under the header image in theme twenty eleven and get rid of the search box temporarily. Can anyone give me a step by step guide?

When you’re in the “dashboard” go under Settings and then click on “theme options”. There you will see “menu background color”. Just select it and change it to whatever you want.

Oh whoops under “Appearance” not “Settings” sorry!

    Hello,
I’m also trying to remove the recent posts from the bottom of my pages in the Showcase template. With no luck.

I haven’t used the showcase template yet and I’m not sure if you just want to remove where it says “Recent Posts” but this would hide that
h1.showcase-heading {display:none;} If you want to remove the feature, then you’d have to edit showcase.php probably line 152-205 but I haven’t tested that.

    Where and how would I use h1.showcase-heading {display:none;}
+ exactly what code would I need to edit / remove?

Many thanks and apologies for being such a dumbass.
