twenty-eleven custom theme issue

  • hey guys,

    so i am trying to fix a theme that was outsourced (we’ve since dropped the company). The site in question is at https://www.vectorgeotesting.com/

    I am trying to figure out how to separate the featured news and featured events. Right now I kind of have it working but only if the dates are the same and current. If I have a news post on 05-19-2015 and an events post on 05-19-2015 they both show as they should. If I change the date of the events post to 05-18-2015 it no longer shows and instead the news posting shows in both. Any idea or help?
