• Weird Question:

I currently have two blogs. One is a highly evolved and content-rich site with a lot of posts and stylistic changes; the other is a basic install. I want to transfer all my settings, links, style, content, etc. from one blog to the other blog.

Which files should I move from the first blog to the second blog to move the site to the new site? (And which ones SHOULDN’T I move?)

I haven’t done anything yet. I just evolved a site that started as my testbed and I don’t like the url “sitename.org/testbed.”

So I want to move it to “sitename.org/blog” where I have a minimum install now running 1.5.

I just want to basically move my blog from “testbed” to “blog.”

    Okay……..got phpmyadmin ?

    1. Rename the directory using ftp to whatever you want it to be
    2. Uing phpmyadmin, change the siteurl AND home values. Directions for doing this are here (bottom left) https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress
    3. Then log into your blog.

Very nice page Podz! good useful info well documented with instructions on how to manuver within phpmyadmin.

    PS It is bookmarked.

    Thanks ??

    Podz,

After working with the database values (as described in your tutorial), do I have to then go back into WP and change the URI for the Blog address?

    No.

Just log out, then log back in and WP will read the correct values from the db.
