Is there a chance the WP development team could put at least some focus on making the scripts high traffic sites friendly?

Things like deleting unwanted users is an impossibility given current setup, whereby a drop down menu of all users is generated. This can work for splogs, but for webmasters who put time and effort toward their site and see their registered user count grow to over 500,000 the generation of the drop down menu with half a million records will simply not happen, not even on a super fast dedicated server with SSD drives in RAID 10.

Would there be interest in making WP also a platform of choice for high traffic sites? Don’t want to waste anyone’s time with similar posts in case splogs are set to remain the sole focus.

It’s too late to get this into 3.8, and honestly if WP.com hasn’t run into headaches with this (ain’t nobody got more users then they do), then it’s proabably a case of your server is underpowered for your setup.

Splogs, obviously, we don’t care about. Anyone who has 500,000 legit USERS should be on a massive dedi server with a lot of SQL boxes though.

Thanks Sergey, although it looks like it’s talked about, but not taken care of. If it continues being talked about for additional 2 years with no solution presented, than tough luck for us who don’t use WP for splogs.

@mika, I can tell you my dedi box is not underpowered but it doesn’t matter how much power you have. Generation of a drop down menu with half a million records is plain and simple not gonna happen. If I were a developer, things like that would be a priority as generation of drop.down menus with no cap on number of records does not sound like good coding practise.
