• How do you turn on threaded comments? I reviewed Support’s instructions which say to go to Settings>Discussion, but there is no Discussion link anywhere under my Dashboard.

  • As long as:
    1. you are logged in as admin or editor
    2. no active plugin or your current theme disables it (not likely)
    3. your language is English

there is a Discussion menu item below Settings in your admin area. Do you see the menu on the left side?

The relative URL for the page is wp-admin/options-discussion.php. You may try that local path on your blog to see what you get.

You may also deactivate your plugins and switch to Twenty Eleven theme to see if it shows up then.

There is no Discussion link under SEttings. The URL you gave me goes to a Google search page.

I’m very low tech. I don’t know what you mean by deactivate plugins and my theme is 2010, so if I switch to 2011… then I have to reconfigure the theme again?

Maybe this will help in tracking down “Settings->Discussion”:

    Settings Discussion Screen

The URL Knut gave in order to go directly to the discussion screen has to be added to your domain. Like this:

    your-site.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php

@marlazemanek: Twenty Ten theme is certainly not a problem here, so keep it. Plugins, on the other hand, are found under menu item Plugins > Installed plugins. Do you have any one listed under the Active tab (don’t bother looking under the All tab)? For each you have a Deactivate link, if you want to try.

FYI: When switching themes, or deactivating plugins, no information (configuration) is lost. You can always go back or activate again.

What other links (menu items) do you see under Settings? I’m asking because I want to rule out the possibility that you have not, or in some way may have lost, your administrator privileges (rights) on your blog. This would explain missing menu items.

I have another posting with related issues ……. people are telling me that maybe I have … well actually I guess have a customized version of the site b/c I got it through a corporate program I took.

What you all are seeing is not what I’m seeing: general, smart youttube, tiney mce advanced, audio player, tip jar, google analytics, adsense, teta tags, share/save.

It seems that my dashboard is not equipped with Discussion anywhere.
