I used the “Rename login page” feature for a while without issue. But after I turned off that feature, and tried to access the login page using the default URL https://mysite.com/wp_login.php , it gets redirected to https://127.0.0.1/

I saw some of your reply about the redirect having to do with enabling the “Cookie based brute force prevention” feature. But I have never used that, so it has always been off on my site.

I have also asked a friend to try accessing the default login page from another office (i.e. using another internet connection) –> same result.

To regain access to the login interface, I revered my site back to a backup copy (before “Rename login page” was turned off) to get to my custom URL for login.

Is there a way to safely turn off the “Rename login page” feature? and use the default URL again?

    Hi @chinkchink

I think your IP might be locked due to invalid login attempts WP Security > User login > Login lockout and you have 404 detection and IP lockout on WP security > Firewall > 404 detection.

According to me it do not depends on the rename login page.

Please try access with different internet connection and cross check.

WP security > Dashboard > Locked IP addresses list.

{db_prefix}_aiowps_login_lockdown table do not have your IP blocked please cross check and remove

    Thanks for your reply.

My WP Security > User login > Login lockout feature has been disabled ever since I set up the Rename Login page (the reason why I set up the Rename Login to begin with — I did not want to use the lockout feature.)

My WP security > Firewall > 404 detection is disabled. (Has always been turned off.)

My Locked IP addresses list is empty.

My {db_prefix}_aiowps_login_lockdown table has 0 row.

My WP security > Blacklist manager > Ban users is disabled. (Turned off after experiencing the current issue.)

    I have also tried:

Adding my friend’s IP (who works at a different office, using a different internet connection) under WP security > Brute force > Login whitelist, then have her try to access the login page while Rename Login is off… she also landed on 127.0.0.1

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi @chinkchink

wp-login.php being redirected to 127.0.0.1 is only due to 2 reasons. Please cross check WP security > Dashboard > Locked IP addresses also WP security > Dashboard > Permanent Block list

    1) either cookie based brute force on or your

    2) IP is locked

Do you have any cache plugin?

Both WP security > Dashboard > Locked IP and WP security > Dashboard > Permanent Block list are empty on my site — no entries at all.

Caching for the site is done on the server end (a service offered by my hosting provider, SiteGround.) And the site also uses CDN.

Do you think it is the cached copies on the CDN that keeps redirecting the page?

    Hi @chinkchink

Yes, It might be the browser cache issue also. Please try in the incognito window.

If still issue try Rename the plugins folder “all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall” to “all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall-deactivated” at location /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall It will deactivate the plugin and will allow to access using wp-login.php

Please keep this thread open for another week. I am checking in the hospital for an operation and will need to wait till I get back to the office to fully test out the caching situation.

Thank you for your understanding and your help.

Thank you for keeping this thread open.

Happy to report that the problem has been resolved by turning off CDN for several hours.

It is indeed not a problem caused by the Rename Login Page feature.

Thank you very much for your help and patience, and I will marked this as resolved.
