With GDPR looming, I’ve installed a cookie-blocking plugin (WeePie Cookie Allow) to prevent my website loading cookies until a user has given permission. WD Google Analytics is overriding the plugin and placing a Google Analytics cookies on visitors’ browsers when they land on my home page. How can I prevent this happening until they have explicitly given permission for cookies?

  • Hey,

Please have a look at this page, where the terms of cookie usage on websites by Google Analytics are stated.

In short, the cookies are added by Google Analytics itself, rather than the plugin. As you mentioned, Google Analytics might be overriding WeePie Cookie Allow configurations.

It is also possible, that WeePie Cookie Allow skips blocking these cookies.

Unfortunately, we did not find WeePie Cookie Allow plugin on www.remarpro.com, could you please send the .zip file of the plugin to [email protected]?

Please mention the link to this forum thread in your message. We will test the problem and see what we can find out.

    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for getting back to me. I have managed to find a setting in WeePie Cookie Allow that will block Google Analytics cookies. You can find WeePie Cookie Allow at Envato Market. The trick is to tick the Live Blocking checkbox under General Settings.

    Hi,

We are happy to know the options of WeePie Cookie Allow plugin let you fix the problem of cookie blocking.

Please feel free to post a new topic in case you will have other questions.
    Cheers!
