Turn off comments?

    Hello!

    I don’t know where to put this, so I am putting it here.

    I want to turn off commenting on my WordPress pages (and, maybe some posts’s in the future)

    When I still used wordpress.com , there was a checkbox could check and un-check that would allow me to turn off comments. Ever since I started using and installing www.remarpro.com sites for people, I have yet to find that checkbox.

    Is there a plugin or hack I can do to fix this?

    You still have that. Same place, even.

    Go to yoursite.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php

    Uncheck Allow people to post comments on new articles

    You WILL need to go to all existing posts and turn off comments there as well.

    No… on wordpress.com , you could turn it off and on for individual posts and pages. That is what I was hoping for.

    Ah, that you ALSO still have ?? It’s just defaulted to hidden.

    Go into your posts and edit a post you want to have no comments.

    On the upper right on the screen, see where it says Screen Options? Click that.

    In the ‘Show on Screen’ options, check ‘Comments’

    Then it’ll show up again.

    I have no idea why I didn’t try that -.-

    To turn off comments for pages open up your theme’s page.php and remove the line: <?php comments_template () ?>

    Thanks, seth… but I wanted to do it for induvidual posts/pages… not all posts/pages. But, I got it figured out ??

    In case someone else wants to do this, I found that you have to enable “Discussion” in the Screen Options area so that you can uncheck “Allow Comments” on a single page. This will show a “Comments for this entry are closed” message where the comments would be.
