I don’t seem to have a place for people to comment on my blog. I am not sure if this is something I did or something that happened when I upgraded to the new version of WordPress. I am using a child theme of twenty twelve.

I followed all the instructions in “turn comments on or off” but there is still no place to add comments and there was a few weeks ago, since I was getting a few back then. Wondering if one of my plug-ins is causing a problem. I am a complete amateur so I don’t even want to get in to anything complicated.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

  • To enable comments on future Pages/Posts, check “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion.

Then edit each published Page or Post and check “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

Thanks, I have all that done. What I was trying to say…and probably did not state in clearly…is that there is no place for people to post comments, which there should be at the end of the post, yes?

What happens when you activate the unedited parent theme?

I will try that…was gone for a bit so just now answering.

Just so I understand….I activated the parent theme. That did not change anything so far as I can tell. Is there another step?

Can you deactivate all plugins please?

Ok, I will. Kind of scary, but I will.

De activated all plug-ins. Still don’t see a place for people to comment.

I re-activated the Adsense plug-in, because I don’t want to lose money while working on this. I am probably doing something wrong that is really simple to an expert…or a 12 year old.

We need to see the site with all plugins deactivated and using the unedited parent theme.

Here I am again. I notice that on my page guidelines for posting there is what I am looking for….a place to put comments. But that seems to be the only page. Help, please, before I drive myself crazy.

I take it back, I just had a couple comments posted on some older posts. But somewhere along the way something has changed so that newer posts don’t have that option.

Ok, let be sure I understand. I should de-activate all plug-ins and then activate the parent theme? Thanks for your patience and help!

Ok, I have done as you suggested.
