Tumblr Importer

  • I used the Tumblr Importer last night, and it’s been a nightmare ever since. I have duplicates of many posts, many other posts are broken (images not showing, text cut off). This is causing me to spend hours going through and either deleting posts wholesale or editing posts so they actually make sense.

    Does anyone know why this has happened? The cut off/broken posts I could understand, but the duplicates (some show up 5-6 times) is simply ridiculous.

  • I would argue this is simply not a well tested plugin. I’ve no idea why WP decided to advertise it in 3.3 as a new feature. I have not been able to get it to work well either. I highly recommend running this on a development copy of your site first.

    It may work well if you only have a couple hundred posts at Tumblr, but I can’t be sure. The Tumblr was I attempting to import has about 4,900.
